About

A love of wine, learned by paying attention. And a respect for the people and systems that bring it to the glass.

The story

Josh Cook

It started in Kansas, not exactly wine country. But a bottle opened at the right table, with the right people, turned into a question I haven't stopped asking: who made this, and what were they trying to share?

That question pulled me into cellars, tasting rooms, and the quiet rooms behind them. The more I learned, the more I cared about the people doing the work, the ones trying to make something beautiful and put it in front of the world.

The background

I've spent more than a decade inside wine and hospitality, making it, pouring it, building the programs and events around it, and learning how much care it takes to make the romance look effortless.

Alongside that, I've worked with cheesemakers, butchers, chefs, and small hospitality teams. Different crafts, same truth: the businesses worth rooting for are the ones built by people who refuse to cut the corner that matters.

The last few years I've spent in corporate finance operations, building systems, tightening workflows, learning how good teams actually run. Hidden Gem Wines is where all of that comes together: the passion that started it, and the discipline to help it last.

The philosophy

Wineries don't need more frameworks. They need someone who understands the rhythm of harvest, the economics of a tasting room, and the quiet weight of decisions made between vintages.

This work is personal. The producers behind the wines worth seeking out are navigating real challenges like staffing, margins, and growth, and deserve a partner who treats those challenges with the same care they put into the bottle.

Move quietly. Write clearly. Leave the team stronger than you found it.
